The Dwarf city of Dwarrowdelf. As they step inside the great column hall of this great ancient city, everyone is awestruck.
Now there’s an eye-opener and no mistake.

With this one simple observation, Sam says it all. The grandeur of this ancient city is incredible. Its magnitude is an overwhelming sight for anyone`s eyes. The point of the massive columns of this city is to bask in the magnificence that is Dwarven architecture.
Dwarves are known for their oversized architecture. Apart from being grand, their architecture is also very square. This reflects their own stature. They are square and grounded themselves.
Elven architecture, for example, is very round and draws inspiration from art nouveau. Dwarven architecture is more a shout out to the Russian brutalist architecture.
It is no wonder, therefore, that both races have something against each other. Alone their architectures come to a clash. Since their architecture reflects their personalities, it can´t be an easily formed friendship.
Howard Shore`s composition for this ancient city reflects the sadness and ruin. There is a sensation of standing in a once very prosperous realm whose zenith had passed long ago. Dwarves – a once-proud people brought asunder, musically echoed in the most beautiful way.
